Honestly, the best thing about owning a pet is the pure, unconditional love they give you. Like, no matter how crappy your day was or how much you think you messed up, your pet is there to remind you that you're their whole world. I mean, my dog literally wags his tail like a maniac every time I walk through the door. It's an instant mood booster.

Randr_sphynx My favorite thing about my cat is how he knows what time I get home. He's always waiting by the door for me, or if I get home early and surprise him he charges at me meowing. I feel like he is asking me how my day was and thank god I'm home. Everyday I pick him up and hold him like a baby you're going to burp and he starts purring. I love him... sometimes on the way home I just chant his name.

-singing-blackbird- My dogs do the same thing! My husband works from home and tells me every day, about a half hour before I usually come home they go and wait by the front door. Appearently our pets can sense when you are going to be home by the amount of your scent that's left in the home. Crazy stuff.

InfinitelyThirsting It is an unbelievable gift when a vulnerable animal of a different species gives you complete trust. When they roll over and show you their belly. When they sleep more relaxed in your presence than they do alone (curled up in a ball vs upside down and sprawled out). I love the love of cats and dogs, and love feeling that especially from cats because they're more

wary than dogs on average, but my pet rats would blow my mind with it sometimes. Like this prey animal full of instinctual fear is eager for my company, wants me to play, wants to sleep on me, wants to stick her head in my mouth crazy little , wants me to watch her babies while she takes a break. The trust of a small animal is just such an incredible gift to sit with.

Kaisukarru I love taking care of another creature. My mom spent my entire chilhood telling me how I'm useless and will never amount to anything, but being the sole carer for another life seems pretty important to me. I don't do it for love or companionship (I keep reptiles, not much love there), but seeing my pets thriving under my care is a big boost to my mood

ItzLog I'm alone during the day, but not really alone alone bc I've got my fur babies and my feathered baby. My dogs offer companionship and they're nice for the pets, but my bird? That's my baby. He talks to me and keeps me active. I can't sleep the day away with someone asking me "what're you doing?" and saying "I love you" every few minutes, lol.

yelbesed2 I get tears to my eyes [69 M] reading these sharings. My son asked me to keep his former gf's abandoned cat...and so now I discover how such simple joys like the love of an animal exist in life. So much stronger in my life than human love...which is almost always complicated.

ArtOfFu I love physical warmness of my dog. Nothing is better than sleeping with her at cold winter under a warm blanket.

Emotional_Sort_5375 I wrote a poem about it actually, haha. "When I forget to eat My dog So used to being fed treats from my plate thinks he is being starved

sjdksjbf 99999999999999% the love. Its so pure, I have 3 cats, one passed last year, but he was the MOST loving and affectionate cat, he would just stare into my eyes while snuggling, or get so excited to be near me he'd headbutt and rub his face all over mine his sister purrs the second we look at each other and we meow at each other all day. Ya, I'm THAT girl.

DJEricSpear Mine is super active so she keeps me in shape with 3-4 mile hikes every day that weather permits.

Pvt-Snafu You're right, our pets are the best stress relievers in the world. I have a rabbit and nothing lifts my spirits like her antics in the air, the way she circles around my legs and her different cute poses while sleeping.

Super_RN Just knowing that these precious babies are safe, fed and loved.

Suburban_Reverie My cat is just so silly sometimes. He makes me laugh at least once every day.
